Darin Carlton Hoffer, November 12, 1967-May 17, 2023 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Darin Carlton Hoffer, a devoted husband, beloved father, stepfather, grandfather, loving son, and brother to many. Recovery Coaches IBADCC would like to provide you with new information concerning Recovery Coaches. IC&RC oversees IBADCC to make sure that our standards promote public protection. IC&RC also develops exams, sets minimum standards, and facilitates reciprocity for certified professions. IC&RC oversees Boards in 49 states and Idaho is one of them. As we improve our standards, we must make sure that we are congruent with IC&RC. We have made some changes to ensure that we are complying with these standards. Currently we have four certifications for Recovery Coaches- Certified Recovery Coaches, Certified Provisional Recovery Coaches, Certified Peer Recovery Coaches, and Certified Provision Peer Recovery Coaches. We have found this to be very confusing for candidates pursuing the Recovery Coach Certification. IBADCC will now have two Recovery Coach certifications: Peer Recovery Coach (PRC)- All of you that have a Certified Recovery Coach certification or a Peer Recovery Coach Certification will be in this category. You don’t have to do anything, IBADCC will make sure that you are certified under this new category in Certemy. This certification will require two (2) supervision hours a month. There is an updated manual on our 3 website. When you do your renewals, please make sure you read the manual carefully for the renewal process. Peer Recovery- Associate- All of you that have a Provisional Certification will fall into this category. We are in the process of working with IC&RC to get this certification. At such time that we are approved for it, all provisional recovery coaches will be moved to this category on Certemy. You don’t need to do anything, but the new manual for this certification is almost complete and will be posted on our website. Please read it carefully when it is time for renewals. This certification will require four (4) supervision hours monthly. The Board has also changed the requirements for Recovery Coach Supervisors. If you are already a Recovery Coach Supervisor, you will automatically be grandfathered in. Applicants for Recovery Coach supervisor must be one of the following: - A CADC or ACADC who has completed the 16-hour recovery coach supervision training. - An individual who has completed the 46 hours of Peer Recovery Coach training and has a minimum of two years paid or volunteer work experience in the four PRC domains and has completed the 16-hour recovery coach supervision training. - An individual who is an approved Clinical Supervisor through IDAPA 16.07.20.02 and has completed the 16-hour recovery coach supervision training. Anyone looking for the 16-hour recovery coach supervision training and meets the above requirements can look at the Recovery Coach Training site at https://www/idahorca.com Recertification Don’t forget your certification dates! A lot has changed over the years including how we are able to get our CE hours. Most providers are now offering virtual, real-time classes that count towards in person training hours. Don’t forget to check out the list of approved CE providers under the Resources tab on our website. How to Contact IBADCC If you have questions on the recommendations or resources included in this email, or if you have specific questions not addressed here, please feel free to contact us!
