Alcohol /Drug Counselor (ADC)

Scope of Practice

The scope of practice for the Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) at the Bachelor’s level, includes the following activities with clinical supervision from an IBADCC approved Clinical Supervisor:

 

1. Clinical evaluation, diagnostic impression including SUD diagnosis or Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBRIT)

2. Treatment planning for SUDs and CODs, including initial, ongoing, continuity of care, discharge and planning for relapse prevention

3. Referral

4. Service Coordination and case management for SUD and CODs

5. Counseling, trauma informed care and psycho-education with individuals, families and groups for SUD

6. Client, Family and Community Education

7. Documentation

8. Professional and Ethical Responsibilities

Requirements

ADC Requirements
 

Valid : 2 years

Application fee: $80

Testing Fee: $235

Time Frame: 1 year
